VALUE
We understand that value is foremost in people’s mind these days and
that is why work hard to achieve the best quality / price balance we can.
This year we have managed to reduce the majority of our course fees by around
10%. We believe however there is an important difference between Good Value
and “Cheap”. Unlike some other schools we are not prepared to
compromise the quality of the training we offer in order to offer “cheap”
courses; to us your safety and your enjoyment are too important for that.
Even after you have completed your training with us we are always available
to provide you with follow-up advice as and when required.
QUALITY
At DMG our goal is to deliver the highest standard of training and service
on every course we run. School owner Dave Garvey is widely acknowledged
as one of the leading watersports trainers in the country with thousands
of hours teaching experience under his belt. The rest of our team are highly
experienced instructors who have been hand picked and coached by Dave to
pass on their expertise.
All of our training programmes not only meet but often exceed the minimum
requirements and our instructors will always work with you to ensure your
individual requirements are met.
LOCATION
Powerboat Courses
Malahide Marina provides the perfect venue for powerboat training at all
levels. Our spacious waterside office on the ground floor of the marina
centre is perfect for covering the shore-based elements of the training.
The clean comfortable changing facilities and hot showers right beside us
means the weather never really matters too much.
On the water the Malahide inlet has a wide variety of conditions available
from calm sheltered waters for easy learning to challenging tidal currents
to sharpen your skills. There is not much point in learning to drive you
boat on a large flat calm stretch of water as the realities of handling
a boat in the real world are different to that.
Windsurfing / Dinghy Sailing
The Broadmeadows Estuary is almost like a purpose built area for learning
and developing windsurfing and sailing skills. The estuary is enclosed on
all sides, shallow, standing depth in a lot of tide conditions, and offers
clear wind through most wind directions. Our equipment is all stored just
meters from the waters edge meaning there is no carrying equipment over
long distances. Changing facilities with hot showers are also on site.

EQUIPMENT
We believe one of the most important factors in fun easy learning is having
the correct equipment, to this end we pride ourselves in having some of
the best equipment available of any school in the country
Powerboats
We use RIBs in the school as there sea keeping and stability provide an
excellent training platform in a wide variety of conditions. The inflatable
tubes provide the all important cushioning when learning those challenging
berthing manoeuvres. Our smaller boat is a 4.5m RIB powered by a 30hp tiller
controlled outboard. The boat is compact, highly manoeuvrable, yet still
very capable in open water and can reach speeds of almost 20knts with 4
adults on board. Our larger boat is a 6.5m RIB powered by 2 60hp outboards.
The layout was custom designed as a training boat with comfortable individual
seats for each student meaning you don’t have to bounce uncomfortable
on the tubes as in the case of smaller boats offered by some of the cheap
schools. The boat is capable of speeds in excess of 30knts and has already
completed 4 Irish Sea crossings.

Windsurfing
We use the most up to date equipment available to make learning to windsurf
as easy as possible. Wide, stable beginner boards, light, stable sails and
rigs allow almost all our customers to be up and moving within an hour of
arriving.
Most of our equipment, particularly high ware items like sails and booms,
is new at the beginning of each season meaning it works and is as up to
date as possible. As you progress or rent with us high performance Fanatic
Shark boards and powerful stable Loft sails mean you skills have along way
to go before you’ll out grow the equipment we have available.
Dinghy Sailing
On our dinghy sailing courses we use the versatile and user friendly Topper
Topaz. The boats are simple to set up and rig, light to handle yet still
provide enough challenge to help develop your sailing skills. The boats
are normally sailed single handed for adults but can accommodate 2 people
when the wind conditions ar a little fresher. The sail are is also easily
adjusted to suit the wind conditions.
REPUTATION
From our opening in 2002 we rapidly developed a reputation as a leader in
providing consistently high standards both in terms of the service we offer
and the training we provide. For this reason we have been chosen to provide
training throughout the country for organisations such as The Irish Sailing
Association, Irish Coast Guard, Garda Water Unit, Dublin Fire Brigade, Drogheda
Port Authority, MGM Boats, BJ Marine, Gartan Outdoor Activity Centre, Colaiste
Uisce, Delphi Adventure Centre and The Oysterhaven Centre.
