Taste of Sailing Certificate: An introductory session to the
experience of sailing a keelboat. This session can be done
for a half or full day and will take participants out on the
water around Ireland's Eye or Lambay Island.

Level 1 Start Sailing Certificate: Provides the novice
sailor with a brief introduction to sailing. Throughout this
2 day course you will cover basic boat handling techniques
and essential background knowledge. It is recommended you
consolidate this with the Level 2 Basic Skills Certificate
course.

Level 2 Basic Skills Certificate: By the end of this course
you will be safety conscious, have a basic knowledge of
sailing and be capable of sailing without an instructor in
light winds. This course is run over 3 consecutive days.

Level 3 Improving Skills Certificate: The successful
candidate will have a competent, safe, practical approach to
the sailing of small boats and be capable of sailing and
assuming seamanlike decisions in moderate conditions. The
course consists of at least 5 full day's tuition.

L4 Introduction to Racing Skills Certificate: The successful
sailor will have had a sound introduction to racing at club
level. Although essentially a practical course, sessions afloat
will be backed up by a number of sessions ashore. The course
consists of at least 5 full day's tuition.

L4 Advanced Sailing Skills Certificate: By the end of this
course, the successful candidate with have a confident,
safe, seaman like approach to sailing and will be capable of
sailing in strong wind conditions. The skills and knowledge
covered here are similar to those required of the ISA
Instructor Pre-entry Assessment. Candidates wishing to train
as an instructor should ensure they have these skills.

Personalised
Private Coaching For clients who
have their own boats, hire an experienced instructor to show
you how to get the most from your boat. Examples of
sessions include, but are not limited to, race training,
boat tuning, marina manoeuvres, safety
manoeuvres, spinnaker handling etc.

Coastal
Navigation for Small Boats (shorebased) Provide
participants with skills and knowledge to safely navigate a
boat by day and by night in coastal waters with which you
are familiar. Preparation for the Advanced Sailing
Certificate.

International
Certificate of Competency Assessment (Sail
or Power) By the end of
half day assessment the successful participant will be
capable of helming without supervision in good conditions
and familiar waters.

Irish
Marine VHF (shorebased). Irish Short Range Certificate
(SRC)
required by persons wishing to use a VHF radio on Irish waters.

First
Aid: The aim of this course is to provide participants
with the skills and knowledge required to provide emergency
care in the marine environment and on inland waterways where
professional medical assistance should be available within
30 minutes.

Code
Européen des Voies de la Navigation Interieure (CEVNI):
The ICC specifies the type of water the certificate may be
used on as either inland or coastal. Coastal certificates
will be issued to candidates who have demonstrated an
appropriate knowledge of the International Regulations for
the Prevention of Collisions at Sea (IRPCS). Inland
certificates will be issued to candidates who have
demonstrated an appropriate knowledge of the Code Européen
des Voies de la Navigation Interieure (CEVNI). Candidates
able to demonstrate an appropriate knowledge in both the
IRPCS and CEVNI may be issued with a certificate valid for
both inland and coastal waters. CEVNI manuals can be
purchased from the ISA directly on 01-2800239.
