POWERBOAT>>ISA Introduction to Powerboat
Certificate
 |
The aim of this course is to provide a short practical introduction
to boat handling and safety on powerboats being used on all Irish waters.
It is ideally suited to anyone new to powerboating and whose primary
role will be as crew on a powerboat. By the end of the course participants
will be able to safely and effectively crew a powerboat and take the
helm while under supervision.

| Pre-Requisites: No previous boating experience
is required. It is recommended that participants consolidate this with
the ISA National Powerboat Certificate before they take charge of a boat
without qualified supervision. |
| Equipment: This course may be run on our
boats in Malahide Marina - 6.5m RIB with twin 60hp engines and centre
console, 4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller console |
| Ratio: Minimum 2, maximum 3 clients per
instructor |

POWERBOAT>>ISA National Powerboat
Certificate
 |
By the end of this two day course the successful participant will be
capable of helming without supervision in good conditions and familiar
waters.
They will also be safety conscious and have a basic knowledge of boat
preparation and handling both ashore and afloat. Experienced boat handlers
may also achieve this award through direct
assessment. |
| Pre-Requisites: Some previous boating experience
is necessary. The ISA recommends this certificate as the minimum level of
training/knowledge required before anyone uses a power boat on their own. |

boats in Malahide Marina - 6.5m RIB with twin 60hp engines and centre console,
4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller console |
| Ratio: Minimum 2, maximum 3 clients per instructor |
| Duration: 2 days (9.30am to 5.30pm each

To carry out the course on your own boat, the cost is €700
for up to 3 people (normally €900). When doing the course
on your own boat, it must be fully equipped with all required safety equipment

POWERBOAT & SAIL>>International Certificate
of Competency
 |
The aim of the ICC is to provide boat owners and people wishing to
charter boats (power or sail) with an internationally recognised document
certifying their competence to skipper a boat for recreational use.
It is possible to get an ICC for use of powerboats, sailing boats and
also to have an endorsement for inland waterways (CEVNI). |
Pre-Requisites: Boating experience is
necessary to carry out the assessment for the International Certificate
of Competency.

to ICC provides details on what is involved in the ICC tests

| Equipment: This assessment for powered craft
can be run on our boats in Malahide Marina - 6.5m RIB with twin 60hp engines
and centre console, 4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller console. For the
ICC for Sail, clients are required to have access to their own sailing boat. |
| Ratio: Minimum 1, maximum 3 clients per instructor |
| Duration: ICC for Power or Sail Written:
Maximum 2 hours; Practical: Approx. 2-3 hours. To also do the CEVNI (for
inland waterways) allow a further 2 hours for a written paper. |
| Cost: €150 per person using DMG Boat.
€120 per person using your own boat. CEVNI is an additional €40pp. |
Award: ISA issues an ICC licence directly
to those who already hold the ISA National Powerboat Certificate, or who
complete the direct assessment succesfully. ICC

POWERBOAT>>ISA Recreational Powerboat
Certificate
 |
By the end of this two day course the successful participant will
be capable of planning and using your boat for general recreational
use during daylight hours and in water with which you are familiar.
It includes the typical skills you will need to enjoy family daytrips,
longer coastal passages and sports activities like water skiing. |
Pre-Requisites: Participants must hold
the ISA National Powerboat Certificate or an equivalent certificate.
It is strongly recommended that participants hold a First Aid Certificate
and the Short Range VHF Licence radio operator's certificate. |

in Malahide Marina - 6.5m RIB with twin 60hp engines and centre console,
4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller console. Alternatively, if a group
has access to a suitable boat in a suitable location, the course can be
run on-site. |

POWERBOAT>>ISA Safety Boat Certificate

The aim of this course is to introduce candidates to the techniques
and skills used in powerboats which include escorting racing fleets
of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes; providing safety and rescue cover
for training fleets; assisting in race management duties. |
| Pre-Requisites: ISA National Powerboat
Certificate.At least one member of a safety boats crew should hold a
First Aid Certificate & VHF Licence. |

console, 4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller console. Alternatively,
if a group has access to a suitable boat in a suitable location, the

POWERBOAT>>ISA Dive Coxwain
Certificate
 |
To introduce and develop the skills necessary to take charge of a
powerboat that is deploying and recovering divers on inland and coastal
dive sites, by day, on waters with which the coxwain is familiar. |
| Pre-Requisites |
ISA National Powerboat Certificate.Personal experience
in, or knowledge of, diving would be an advantage.Strongly recommend you
hold a First Aid Certificate & VHF Licence. Coxswains taking divers
to dive sites further offshore, or to coastal sites with which they are
not familiar, should consider completing the ISA Advanced Powerboat Certificate. |

POWERBOAT>>ISA Advanced Powerboat
Certificate
 |
The aim of this course is to develop boat handling, seamanship, pilotage
and navigation skills up to the standards required to drive a planing
powerboat safety by day in all coastal waters, and by night in coastal
waters with which you are familiar. |
| Pre-Requisites |
ISA National Powerboat Certificate. In addition to this, we would recommend
that you have logged a minimum of 20 hours as a helm.
Participants must have completed the ISA Coastal Navigation for Small
Boats course or demonstrate equivalent background knowledge.
Although it is not a requirement, we would also strongly recommend you
hold a First Aid Certificate & VHF Licence |

This course is run on our boats in Malahide Marina - 6.5m RIB with twin
60hp engines and centre console, 4.5m RIB with 30hp engine and tiller
console. Alternatively, if a group has access to a suitable boat in a
suitable location, the course can be run on-site. |

2 days. Day 1: 9.30am to 4pm, and night time segment generally 7-10pm

The ISA Coastal Navigation for Small Boats course (or equivalent) is
a pre-requisite for the Advanced Powerboat Certificate course. Should
you decide to do both courses, we are happy to offer a special
