Powerboat Instructor

Cost

€550 per person for instructor course. 

Cost of pre-entry is additional. This takes 1 day and costs €250 which is divided among number of participants (see description below).

Duration

1 day pre-entry powerboat practical assessment and if successful:

5 days full training course OR

2 days training course for existing instructors

Description

 

 A training course to teach participants the skills and knowledge necessary to be top class powerboat instructors. All candidates should be highly experienced powerboat operators. This course is run from the DMG office in Malahide. 

Pre-entry guidelines - this is the standard of competency required in order to attend the course. This assessment takes one day. This cost is additional and is divided among participants (€250 for 1 day).

This is not an adequate level to open as a powerboat school. You must be Senior Powerboat Instructor to open a training centre.

Pre-Requisites

5 Day Course:

  • Minimum age 17 years

  • Recommendation from Club Officer or Centre Principal

  • First Aid Certificate

  • ISA National Powerboat Certificate with certificate endorsed for both tiller & console controls and held for 5 years

  • A pre-entry assessment of your boat handling skills and background knowledge is required. This assessment is carried out by a powerboat instructor trainer (we can advise on this)

2 Day Course:

  • Valid ISA Instructor qualification

  • ISA National Powerboat Certificate with certificate endorsed for both tiller & console controls and held for 5 years

  • A pre-entry assessment of your boat handling skills and background knowledge is required. This assessment is carried out by a powerboat instructor trainer (we can advise on this)
